Riverside is a community that is internationally recognized as one of the first planned suburban communities in the US. The village was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the same Frederick Law Olmsted that designed New York City's Central Park. The entire Village was designated a National Historical Landmark in 1970 due to its significance as a planned community and its unique original community landscaping plan. Fifty-six structures have been designated as local landmarks including many Frank Lloyd Wright homes in addition to Tudor Revival, Arts and Crafts, Victorian and Colonial Revival style homes. The Faust studio is located in a classic 50s split-level home: squarish and prone to flooding.
