SoundsuitShop.com is an immersive website designed by Faust for longtime client Nick Cave. Years of successful creative collaborations between Faust and Cave germinated into an idea to create a curious line of affordable product featuring the work of Cave and designed by Faust. Part commerce, part communication, part spectacle, the site is intended to make more widely visible and accessible the work of this internationally collected and followed self-described "trans-artist." The site conveys the complexity, diversity and scale of Cave's Soundsuits as well as the intrigue of his performance and installations. In tandem with the site development, Faust created a brand identity which would not only be used as shorthand for the shop but also be used to brand a diverse line of product. The identity is an extension of Cave's ongoing challenge relating to perceptions of fine art. Giving the retail product an overtly commoditized identity flies in the face of elitist perceptions about what constitutes art. The brand identity has been applied across the broad spectrum of communications and product which make up SoundsuitShop and very quickly became widely identified with the work of Nick Cave. Faust provided concept, design, production and print management and deployment.
