Graphic Arts Studio / Design on Press Poster

When partner and long time client, Graphic Arts Studio, wanted to promote their new 6-color press, as well as establish themselves as a design-conscious business, 3st’s Rick Valicenti suggested a poster series created in collaboration with other Chicago-based design firms, and Faust was one of them. Faust chose to illustrate that when you have great pressmen putting ink on paper, the print process actually becomes part of the design process. So, the “Design on Press” theme was born and typographically built into the design. Because the poster was tasked with exploiting the quality of Graphic Arts Studio's work, we had to make production particularly difficult. The blends are produced with spot colors and there's an extremely tight registered emboss of the headline that helps call it out. "Design on Press" has been recognized by numerous awards and publications including FPO and the Chicago Design Archive and is available by request from the Graphic Arts Studio web site. Faust provided concept, design and illustration, production and print management.
