Ritz-Carlton Hotel Chicago
24/7
Faust was retained by the Ritz-Carlton Chicago, a Four Seasons Hotel, to redesign various external communications including a promotional newsletter, events collateral, a weddings sales kit, catering sales kit and ad-hoc advertising. The decision to redesign their collateral was the result of an influx of competition into the Chicago hotel market in addition to a demographic study that had revealed their clientele was transitioning to a younger age bracket with more modern tastes. The hotel needed to appeal to this transitioning audience while acknowledging the hotel's position as the “grande dame” among fine hotels in Chicago. Faust redesigned their collateral in stages using a strategy focused on minimalism and reduction of overly gestural editorial content. The Ritz-Carlton asked Faust to create a newsletter concept to promote seasonal hotel events and packages. 24/7 was a concept developed by Faust and inspired by the hotel's 247 benchmarks of service; one benchmark was featured in each issue with a corresponding quote from a guest or employee. Faust handled concept, design, copywriting, art direction, production and print management.
