alt_shift Chicago Flag, 2023

4-color digitally printed nylon
50’ x 29’ National Sawdust facade
Commissioned by the CHicago Design Museum

As part of the Design Museum of Chicago’s new annual outdoor program — Field Day — Faust was asked to create an alternative Chicago Flag through a design-centric lens. Using the Chicago flag as inspiration, the white fields represent The City and its citizens while the eyelets are the public policies and programs set in place, now and in the future, working toward the betterment of our society. The blue band is the progress made and distance yet to go for each. And the laces are the energy and commitment to reach the goals and each other.
