Floe Animations (The Seldoms: Floe On The Mart), 2022

Series of animations for The Seldoms: Floe on the Mart
Texts by Seth Bockley
Edit by Liviu Pasare

Site-specific, text-based animations were created to both to amplify the messages of The Seldoms work while grounding the project to it's site on the Chicago River on The Mart’s south facade. Floe was presented as the first of ART on THE MART's projections aligned with DCASE's Year of Chicago Dance. It was derived from an earlier onstage work and spotlit climate change, extreme weather, vanishing ice, denialism, bodies of water and, ultimately, the human body. Projected immediately above the Chicago River and toward Lake Michigan, Floe invites viewers to approach climate change, mitigation, and adaptation efforts with clear eyes, resolve, and “big shoulders." Choreography and direction by Carrie Hanson; texts by Seth Bockley; projection components by Liviu Pasare and Andrew Glatt, soundscape by Mikhail Fiksel; costumes by Maria Pinto; and performed by Dee Alba, Sarah Gonsiorowski, Damon Green, and Maggie Vannucci.
