The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), in partnership with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), “rolls-out” a new, interactive art installation traveling the Green Line June 2021 through late summer. The artwork is the latest in a series of cultural events and activities being launched citywide as part of “Open Culture”— the next phase of Open Chicago, the Mayor Lightfoot’s latest initiative to safely and fully reopen the city.

The mobile artwork, is a rolling exhibit that highlights the importance of awareness, connectivity and empathy of the world around us, especially when gathered with others in same shared spaces, focusing on ways forward and the myriad means we use to get there. These take the form of typographic tenets, originally introduced to and absorbed by us through our parents, mentors and peers across eight fully wrapped CTA railcars. They function as our filters as well as the signposts that illuminate our leaders and those we must resist. This collection of tenets warms and connects us, providing a safe haven for making the critical and often difficult decisions that move us.
