Nick Cave: Greetings from Detroit, 2015

28-page, board book
Introduction by Laura Mott
Photographs by Corine Vermeulen
Published by Cranbrook Art Museum

Faust envisioned a travel-inspired postcard book as an alternative documentation of Nick Cave’s epic exhibition and performance series in Detroit. It’s a conceptual, as well as literal way to connect the artists intent of getting his work outside the museum walls and into the communities that could be most impacted by the energy of it. Comprised of 14 photographs by celebrated photographer Corine Vermeulen, the artist puts his work as well as himself in situ throughout both thriving and lost Detroit neighborhoods. The publication itself is made from triple laminated, matt board pages, bound in cheesecloth, so that each could be pulled out, addressed and shared as an oversized and mailed postcard.
