Formly planted between art and design these wallworks were created for several different reasons. In some cases they add critical context to the art they sit adjacent to. In other cases, their scale groups and holds a section of artworks together to make the huge galleries more intimate. Additionally, several are used primarily as placemaking to set the stage and guide visitors through their museum experiences. But in all cases, these particular works are each made from source images of Nick Cave’s artworks that are repeated in a modular way, but on an organically constructed grid to make site-specific, shapeshifting patterns that read completely differently depending on the viewers proximity to them.
